openSUSE 10.3 Beta 2 (64-Bit)

General Information

9/7/07 - The Beta 2 site is still available for everyone to use, but there will be no new updates to any of the information on these pages.  Beta 3 is the current version.

This site will attempt to help you set up openSUSE 10.3 Beta 2 64-Bit, to get past some rough spots during installation, and to help you install some very cool shit for your desktop.

This site assumes that you already have this version of openSUSE installed.  This site will not help with the actual installation process.  If you've never used linux before, I strongly recommend installing to a blank IDE hard drive, and to make sure that no other drives are plugged in during the installation.

I have had minimal luck in the past with 64-bit versions of openSUSE but I decided to give 64-bit one more try.  So far I have to say this is the BEST installation of openSUSE 10.3 so far!

To be able to build packages mentioned on this site, you will first need to install developer packages in Linux, including GCC, C++, kernel-source, python-devel and probably many more.  Visit this page for more information:  Software Packages.

Site Updates

8/29/07 - Added Fusion-Icon (Custom) page.

8/26/07 - Armagetron Advanced (0.2.8.2.1) works!  Added a new page here.  Also added a basic page for Chromium B.S.U.

8/26/07 - TrueCrypt works!  Added a new page for it here.

8/26/07 - KSensors works!  Click here for information,

8/26/07 - I forgot to mention, a new version of NTFS-3G (1.826) was just released (and works fine)...  and is available here.

8/26/07 - Site updated, again.  This site originated in Dreamweaver on my Windows box (via RDP), but it has become almost impossible to use since cut/copy/paste operations do not work through RDP (at all).  Hell, I can't even cut/copy/paste from Outlook to Word in the RDP session.  Anyway, I am now managing this site directly and from my Linux box using Nvu.  I have changed the font slightly...  the old font looked great in Windows Firefox but looked like total shit in Linux Firefox.  Hopefully this helps.  I also added pages for VLC Media Player, Screenlets and Shockwave Flash.

8/25/07 - Site completely overhauled (4am lawl) for openSUSE 10.3 Beta 2 64-Bit.

8/25/07 - Completely updated the Compiz Fusion and Beryl pages.

7/27/07 - Added BitTorrent 5.0.8, FLAC 1.2.0, Miro 0.9.8, Mumble 1.0.0,  Opera 9.22-20070716.1 and Psi 0.11 RC2 to the files area.

More Information

If you want to install openSUSE in a software raid configuration, please study this page carefully.

My original sites for openSUSE 10.3 Beta 1 (32-Bit) and openSUSE 10.3 Alpha 5 (32-Bit) are still available but are now depricated.  Everything should work, but there will not be any more updates.
